Where to find Best Luxury Bed Linens
A Favorite Designer takes the Guess Work out of Shopping
Many buyers check the thread-count on their bedding purchase in the store only to be disappointed as they toss and turn between scratchy 1000 Thread Count sheets at night.
Thread count Is NOT everything!
Thread count reflects the number of threads per square inch in a cross weave on the fabric. The more threads per square inch (thread count) the softer the cotton.
Thread count is not as important for Polyester sheets. If the fabric is crafted from polyester, the threads are much narrower and it would take many more threads to equal the thread count of cotton. The same is true for poly/cotton bed linens. Thread count is not as important.
Satin sheets can be luxuriously soft but they aren’t crafted from cotton and therefore not as durable as a fine cotton sheet with a high thread count. Likewise, linen crafted from a poor quality cotton will not be as durable despite a high cotton thread count. Sound confusing?
More important than thread count may be the designer you choose.
Choose a designer who makes quality merchandise. Someone you trust to create merchandise you like from the best fabric you love. Then search for a high thread count in a cotton weave from your favorite designer.
A fine designer has a reputation to uphold. Most of their products will be top-notch and suit your tastes. A favorite designer takes all the guess-work out of shopping for fine linen.
You don’t have to travel to Egypt or Italy to find the softest bed linens. Most fine designers and manufacturers use only the finest cotton. Egyptian, Italian and Pima cotton (grown in southwestern Arizona) produce some of the best cotton fibers available.
A few of my favorite designers are: Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren, Barbara Barry, Martha Stewart, there are many other fine designers.
For those with small incomes to the rich and famous. There are wonderful Home Goods designers for everyone!
For many years Tommy Hilfiger was my all-time favorite. But in the last couple years, he has stopped producing the fine sateens of the past. So, more recently I prefer Ralph Lauren, Laura Ashley, and yes– Martha Stewart.
