Boating, Camping, Fishing and more Fun
When our kids were younger, we lived in East Texas. If you live in Texas, you live close to water. Whether it be Lake Dallas, Lake Texhoma, Lake Lewisville or some other watering hole– there is always a reason to own a boat in Texas.
It doesn’t have to be a Yacht! I’m not talking Pre$$tige–
==>>I’m talking CATFISH! <<==
Any ole boat will do; paddle boat, motor boat, barge or canoe.
If you can sit down or squat and throw a line off the side– You have a boat.
Course the ladies will want appropriate attire. That could be anything from sister’s short-shorts, to Gramma’s Muumuu.
There are no dress-codes when it comes to fishing.
But make a list of necessary equipment like life jackets, shoes or flip-flops, t-shirts for a really hot, sunny day.
If Nana and Papa are teaching the grandbabies to fish or swim. Make certain there is enough supervision for safety. You might need a pole holder for that fishing rod, so gramma will have her hands free for a small child. And for goodness sake– never ever forget the Life Jackets.
Our family had a terrible accident with a fishing boat when our kids were toddlers. Thank goodness they each had a life jacket so no one was injured. But it could certainly be a traumatic event if you aren’t prepared. All boats need life jackets and children need to wear them. Well, actually adults need to wear them too if they don’t know how to swim. I know–because that includes Me<–
There is nothing like fun on the water! Good fun with cautious adults, of course. Whether you play on a small paddle boat or speed across the lake on a super-charged speed boat– Be prepared and take extra precautions for the little ones.
Of course, need I remind you about loading the ice chest: delicious Potato Salad and Hot dogs, hamburgers, potato chips… You get the idea! And, of course, bring your very best Flip Flops when that wet ground gets too hot to stand on! Have Some Fun this summer!
